It turns out that you actually have to keep updating your content for anyone to care about what you are writing... I know you 4 people out there reading this have been waiting with bated breath since my last post...

Anyway, what better way to get back into the swing of things by sharing with you a great campaign that Justice informed me about. Blog collective SuperForest (www.superforest.org) is aiding the Millenium Seed Bank in their worthy global cause to preserve seeds from nearly every plant imaginable to prevent the distinction of thousands of plant species. SuperForest's Save a Seed Coalition is reaching out to fellow bloggers to spread the word and raise enough money to save at least one more seed from complete extinction. Please visit their website to learn more, see their progress and join the fight as I have!

The FIRST Mo's Song of the Week: Me & Armini - Emiliana Torrini

It's been too long since the last post but hopefully I can make up for it with my first installment of my song of the week. I came across Emiliana Torrini the way I do most artists -- bumbling around the net for new music that I can pass the days away on repeat. Torrini is a native of Iceland, despite her very Italian sounding name. However, she has a much more pop-friendly appeal than her compatriot, Bjork. In her 2008 album's title track you can't help but love that "Me & Armini" speaks of such longing, and desperate, dark love with a happy-go-lucky reggae beat in the background. She spits out "You people say that I'm headed for a meltdown" with such conviction and spite, but you can't help but smile because of her charming silver-throated delivery.

Torrini says this of her song that speaks of an obsessive "stalkery" love: "Life is never better than when it's raw."
Enjoy.

The Beginning

Hello world. This is something I have been meaning to start up for a long time. These types of solo blogs can sometimes lend themselves to having a narcissistic feel; I don't purport to believe that what I have to say is any more important than anyone else. If anything, this venture is really an exercise to get me writing again. Those who don't know me would consider me to be very quiet and reserved. Admittedly, I am very shy around new people. Since moving to San Diego I find myself around new people all of the time. I often say that I just articulate myself better when writing, rather than when speaking with people. The problem is I don't write that much anymore so I guess I just don't articulate at all. It can't be healthy...

So here I am; ready to express, divulge, and decompress as to avoid a meltdown of sorts. Hopefully you will be entertained by my take on life, and amazed by my useless skills. I happen to be an idiot savant of sorts when it comes to popular and not so popular music. I find great pride in my ability to name a song just by hearing a snippet of the bass line. I can also recite the family trees of most actors down to their godchildren. These are not attributes that will get me far in life, but I am awesome to have at wine and cheese parties.

For all of you (maybe two) people who are out there reading this, I thank you for indulging me with your time and attention. I know both of those things are precious in an age where any hack on the street thinks they have something they should write about and publish on the web. I promise I will do my best not to post what I had for breakfast, or how dang cute my new socks are...well, I guess that depends on just how cute the socks really are. Until next time my friends...much love.
